About Mark & Kathy Bumgardner
Personal
Mark and Kathy Bumgardner are native Texans and both attended the University of Texas at Austin.
You often see them wearing burnt orange shirts. If you see them driving around town, notice the
longhorn sticker on the back window! Hook 'em Horns! Outside of bridge, their favorite activities are
tennis, golf, and touring around in their RV to local lakes.
Professional - Mark
Mark is BAND's Club Professional. He specializes in individual play instruction during BAND club
games. Mark can also be seen directing afternoon and evening duplicates when not playing. Mark is a
Diamond Life Master, an ACBL Certified Director, and an ACBL Certified
Teacher. When not at BAND, Mark is a Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Irving.
Professional - Kathy
Kathy is BAND's Marketing Manager and we are very excited that she came on board full time
starting September 13th. In addition to driving our marketing programs,you can find her in the
classroom in the evenings and directing afternoon duplicates. Kathy is a Silver Life Master, an ACBL
Certified Director, an ACBL Certified Teacher, and is presently training to become certified as an
Easybridge! instructor.
In 1985 Kathy won the ACBL Rookie Grand National Pairs (during the Fall Nationals in Canada). I
then won an Invitational ACBL sanctioned tournament in Ixtapa Mexico (hosted by the Mexico City
Bridge Club) to play against the top winners of the 1985 Rookie Grand National tournament along
with members and pros from Mexico City.
